Set in Brooklyn New York, Dog Day Afternoon is about first time crooks (played by Al Pacino and John Cazale) who planned the "perfect bank robbery" that turned into a fiasco. All the twists and turns would make you laugh, cry and surprisingly root for the "bad guys". What's even more unbelievable is that it is based on a true story. This 1975 film won an Oscar for Best Writing, Original Screenplay (Frank Pierson)and was nominated for Best Actor (Al Pacino) and Best Director (Sidney Lumet).
Why should you watch this film? Simple--great writing, moving story, and classic Pacino-Cazale tandem in action.
Rent the video or buy the DVD now. Take it from me, it's worth it.
